Jeff Platz Trio at O'shaughnessy Performance Space, Benildus Hall, Santa Fe University Of Art And Design

Boston-based modern jazz guitarist Jeff Platz (jeffplatz.com) is making his first foray in to the New Mexico music scene in the company of two of New Mexico's best known improvising musicians; bassist Ben Wright(from Taos) and drummer Dave Wayne (from Santa Fe).

On Friday, August 8th at the O'Shaughnessey Performance Space, SFUAD, the trio will utilize Platz' original melodic and harmonic sketches as the basis for a series of jazz-based improvisations. The idea here is to maximize spontaneity and freedom of expression while referring to a recognizable framework in different ways. Of course, the trio will take as many musical liberties as mutual listening will allow! It's likely that the trio will break up a bit for duo and solo performances as well.
